We have a nice letter we send out in the summer packet and a manned table at "Taking Care of Business Days" to take donations. By updating the letter this past year, letting everyone know that this is our = only big fund raiser for the year and including a suggested amount per student to reach our goal for this year, we almost doubled what we normally raise= . We are thanking everyone for their generosity a= nd publicizing what additional items the PTSA was able to purchase this year w= ith the additional funds. Since = this is a phone auction you don't have to deal with securing a venue, set up/cle= an up, food/drink, auctioneers, entertainment, crews of volunteers... which makes it so much easier to do than a regular auction. We do a raffle that night which brings in about $2,000. Fall of = 2005 we will try selling those rubber bracelets with our school name. We send a book home with every child and they = have to buy it, sell it or return it. By doing = this and Sally Foster together, we get 50% of the proceeds. This year, we = may NOT do the sales incentive prizes, so we'll receive an extra 2% of the prof= it.<o:p></o:p>= Sally Foster Gift Wrap Sale= s - $7,000-8,000 net. We promote the internet s= ales so students can hit up their relatives far and wide. Internet sales b= egin July 1 and go thru Jan. 1. One sent out a letter to parents the first week of school explaining how the walkathon works, and including a permission slip,= and a pledge sheet. Kids collected pledges (a flat amount, not per lap) a= nd money for two weeks, and the walkathon was held the third week of school.&n= bsp; Another mom made decorations and posters to advertize<= /span> the walkathon around the school and nearby community. They ordered t-shirts for all the kids and organized the schedule for the day of the walkathon with the staff. The day of the walkathon, it took numerous = volunteers to set up the field, provide snacks, check off laps, and cheer on the kids. They put ads abo= ut the sweatshirts in the school newsletter and the PTSA newsletter.
