set for the coming year, but many items are common to all PTSA budgets in <=

The General Membership must approve your budget. Approving it in a May or June meet=
ing
ensures that new officers are able to spend money over the summer. In many cases, the unit’s st=
anding
rules will give the Board of Directors permission to make specific adjustme=
nts
to the budget so that changes can be made without a meeting of the General
Membership.
Your Standing Rules tell you who is on your Budget Committee. “Money Matters” recommends that the Treasurer chair this committee of 5 R= 11; 7 people, which may include incoming & outgoing officers and other PTA leaders.

cover them. Logistically, it =

challenging to do this before June 30. The newly elected officers may choo=

do this over the summer, after the budget is approved and new officers have
attended Convention.
In a related matter – an audit of the current
year’s books should be completed as soon as possible after June 30.
